Moroccan doping ban upheld

LAUSANNE, Nov 19: Brahim Boulami of Morocco, the world 3,000 metres steeplechase record holder, has lost his appeal against a two-year ban for doping.

The ban, from Aug 28, 2002, rules Boulami out of next year’s Athens Olympics.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday upheld the International Association of Athletics Federation’s (IAAF) decision in February to suspend Boulami.

He tested positive for the banned endurance drug EPO in August last year on the eve of the Zurich Golden League meeting where he set his world record mark of 7min 53.17sec.—AFP
