LAHORE, Nov 14: The Punjab PML-N on Friday set up committees to take the protest against the arrest and the alleged use of torture against Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, to all parts of the province.

At an emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, the participants vowed to take revenge on the perpetrators.

Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Mian Javed Lateef, Binyamin Rizvi, Zaeem Qadri, Mian Asad Muhammad and Nasir Iqbal Khan were among the participants.

They were furious over reports that their party chief had been subjected to mental as well as physical torture.

Mr Khosa said allegations against Mr Hashmi were ridiculous and his patriotism could not be questioned. He said the rulers were showing zero tolerance towards their opponents and had started taking undemocratic steps to suppress them.

Other speakers said the PML-N would not succumb to any pressure and continue its struggle for its objectives.
