KOHAT, Nov 7: Two highway robbers were killed in an encounter with police in Marai, a border town between Kohat and Orakzai Agency, on Friday.

Four armed proclaimed offenders who had blocked the Orakzai Agency road and were looting the passengers of passing vehicles, opened fire at a police mobile near Marai checkpoint.

After a long exchange of fire, two of the robbers were killed while others managed to escape into the tribal area taking advantage of the darkness, police said.

The Ustarzai police, which also recovered a Klashnikov and a pistol, have registered a case against the unidentified men and sent the bodies of the two robbers for postmortem to the KDA hospital.

The names of the robbers could not be known.

Two people were killed and one seriously injured in a clash between two armed groups in Togh Bala town on Friday.
