KARACHI: Victim identifies accused: Kidnapping case

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 7: A victim of kidnapping for ransom and his complainant uncle identified on Friday three accused, including sons of a senior superintendent of police and a town nazim, in the court of a judicial magistrate.

Asif Junejo, son of SSP Mumtaz Junejo, Alauddin Junejo, son of Roshan Junejo, a town nazim from Sanghar, and Rustum Haider were arrested by the police last week.

The suspects are stated to be the members of the Lalu Group, a notorious ring in the underworld, mainly involved in kidnapping for ransom cases.

The Darakhshan police produced the three accused in the court of Judicial Magistrate, South, Zulfiqar Kumboh, who conducted the identification parade in a kidnapping for ransom case.

The case pertained to the kidnapping of Raza Abbas for ransom in July this year.

According to the complainant, Mansoor Javed Zaidi, the captors of his maternal nephew, initially demanded Rs12.5 million as ransom. However, he bargained Abbas’s release for Rs7 million after a series of negotiations with the kidnappers.

The complainant identified all three accused in a set of dummies. The victim, however, identified only Rustum Haider as one of the kidnappers.
