KARACHI: Schools told to promote ideology

KARACHI, Nov 7: The education department of the city government has emphasised the need for propagation of Islamic values and national ideology among students.

In a circular to the heads of government schools, it says that in order to achieve the objectives of the national education policy, students should be well acquainted with Islam, the basis of the ideology of Pakistan, so that they can identify with Islamic and national values as defenders of Pakistan’s ideological integrity.

The circular says students may be motivated to utilise all their means and resources for procuring and preparing wall charts, paintings, photographs and other decorative teaching aids, depicting the ideological traits of Pakistani culture. Walls of classrooms may be decorated with them as a source of inspiration for students. Verses of the Holy Quran and sayings of the Holy Prophet and those of our national heroes, should be inscribed on the walls of each class.

The circular further says that the national anthem should be given a proper and conspicuous place, so that the students should learn, understand and follow the spirit behind it.—APP
