KARACHI, Nov 1: A 12-year-old boy died in a road accident in Nazimabad on Saturday.

Police said Junaid Yousaf was crossing the main Nazimabad road when he was hit by a speeding minibus of route (U-11) JF-0562.

The boy was rushed to Abbasi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police claimed to have arrested its driver Shar Afzal and impounded the vehicle.

The victim was a resident of Siraj Colony, Nazimabad No 1, police added.

DIES: A factory worker died while working in a glass factory in Quaidabad on Saturday.

Police said Mohammad Qasim, 45, was a worker at a glass factory in Quaidabad where he was seriously injured after being crushed in a machine.

He was rushed to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

ROBBED: Armed men posing themselves as policemen robbed an expatriate in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday night.

Police said Syed Hamid Ali Wasri was returning home from Saudi Arabia in a cab when he was stopped by unknown persons in plainclothes posing themselves as policemen.

They deprived him of foreign currency and other valuables and fled.

An FIR 243/2003 was lodged at the Aziz Bhatti police station subsequently.

GANG BUSTED: The Karachi Police, with cooperation of Citizen Police Liaison Committee, arrested a gang involved in around dozen cases of kidnappings for ransom in the city, adds APP.

IGP Syed Kamal Shah said here on Saturday that SP Investigation Niaz Khoso along with his team, carried out a raid on Rabia Flowers Plaza in Gulistan-i-Jauhar and arrested the gang-leader, Rustam alias Haider alias Khan son of Ghulam Rasool alias Wahab.
