Warrants for arrest of three policemen

By Our Correspondent

SAHIWAL, Oct 20: A local court on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of three policemen, including the Grain Market SHO, in the local Press club case.

The judge directed the police to produce the accused policemen before court on Nov 10.

Press club secretary-general Raghib Ali Syed had alleged in his petition that Grain Market SHO Abdul Razzaq, City police ASI Muhammad Shafi and Elite Force officer Mahmood Ahmed unlawfully raided the press club on Oct 12.

He further alleged that they removed the hunger strike camp of journalists and resorted to aerial firing to scare them away. The police did this just to hand over the possession of the press club to their favourite group of journalists, he added.

The judge ordered issuance of arrest warrants against the accused policemen and deputed judicial magistrate Mohsin Hayat Kamoka to probe the matter.

UNCLE KILLED: Two youths shot dead their uncle on Monday over a minor issue in nearby Chak 42/EB.

Noor Javed and Noor Jamil developed differences with their uncle Ghulam Muhammad over the construction of a wall of their house. Both the accused brothers reportedly escaped to the NWFP.

Kamir police have registered a case against the accused.
