Four accused escape from lock-up

SIALKOT, Oct 20: Four prisoners escaped from the judicial lock-up of district courts after demolishing the rear wall of its toilet here on Monday.

Sources said the Sialkot police brought four accused — Nadeem, Qaisar Butt, Humayun and Irfan to district courts and detained them in the judicial lock-up. The accused, involved in several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery, were to be produced before court.

Availing an opportunity, the dangerous accused demolished the toilet’s back wall and made themselves scare while the guards at the front gate of the judicial lock-up remained unaware.

Sialkot SP (HQ) Tariq Abbas Qureshi told newsmen that special teams, headed by senior officials, were conducting raids on different places to rearrest the escapees.

However, no arrest could be made till the filing of this report.

INJURED: Bandits on Monday looted the house of an industrialist, snatched a car, two motorcycles and injured two persons on resistance in different parts of the Sialkot district.

Two robbers snatched a motorcycle (STJ-874) from Safdar and shot and injured his son Aslam on resistance on Nandpur Road near Kotli Loharan.

Three bandits shot and wounded Waseem for holding them out and took away his motorcycle on Sialkot-Daska Road near Aadha village.

Two armed dacoits snatched a car from trader Umer on Daska-Gujranwala Road near Glotiyan village, Daska tehsil.

In Hajipura, Sialkot, unidentified dacoits busted into the house of industrialist Haji Latif and made hostage all family members at gunpoint. Later, they scooped ornaments, cash, foreign currency and other valuables worth Rs400,000 and escaped.

Police have registered separate cases.
