KARACHI: Youth dies in gun battle

KARACHI, Oct 20: A young man died and two others injured when two groups clashed in Mehmoodabad on Monday night.

Police said that two groups, one of Obhayo Khan and the other of Shaukat Ali, traded fire with each other in Chanassar goth in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station.

As a result of the firing three persons were injured, who were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where one of the injured, Arshad, 28, was pronounced dead, while Mushtaq and Naseer, were provided treatment.

Mehmoodabad SHO Saeed Rind said that the two groups were harbouring some old enmity. He said that following the clash the two groups fled from the spot.

The hospital sources said that as the injured were shifted to the JPMC, some unknown persons accompanying the injured became unruly, ransacked the casualty ward and misbehaved with the doctors and paramedical staff.

ACCIDENT: A young man died in a traffic accident in Mauripur on Monday.

Police said that a Suzuki pickup driver, Mushtaq, 30, rammed his vehicle in a parked truck, which was laden with iron rods.

The police said that Mushtaq died on the spot and his body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the post-mortem examination.

The police said that Mushtaq had become distracted and was looking sideways when his vehicle rammed into the parked truck.

DIES: A woman succumbed to her injuries on Monday after suffering burns in her house in Liaquatabad on Sunday.

Police said that Zainab, wife of Ashgar Ali, had suffered burns while cooking in her house.

Her three children, who were in the house at the time of the incident, also suffered serious burns.

The children and their mother were shifted to the Civil Hospital where the woman died on Monday.
