KARACHI, Oct 17: Six vessels carrying coal and iron and steel and to load rice are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to the KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side thanks to steady arrivals of foreign flag vessels. As a result, six ships, Jade Trader, India Star, Safe Marine Oranje, Flame, Dubai to unload and load containers and Emerald Bay to offload gas oil were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed included Hyndai Sapphire, Bunga Kenar, Mercs Kandy, Le He and Nur Yanbu, while Celes Tina, Banglar Kakoli, Safe Marine Oranje, Kassez, Jade trader and Malakand are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves showed a sizeable expansion as the total tonnage rose to 96,149 tons comprising 10.800 tons of export cargo including 1,258 tons of sugar and 85,349 tons of import, mostly oils.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Black Swan, with 23,007 tons of coal, Izumo, Corin Thiakos, Med Keeling, with containers, Zaid, to load 4,200 tons of rice and Iran Broojerdi, with iron and steel.
