KARACHI, Oct 16: Armed men robbed a bank of Rs5.4 million in New Karachi Industrial Area on Thursday.

Police said that four men came to the bank, wearing uniforms of some private security agency, and after unarming the two guards, held the bank staff at gunpoint.

They allegedly collected around 54,00,000 in cash from the cashier and customers present inside the bank and escaped in a car parked outside the bank premises.

Bank manager Shahid Pervaiz lodged an FIR at the New Karachi Industrial Area police station.

SUICIDE: A young girl committed suicide by hanging herself in North Nazimabad on late Wednesday night.

Police said that Anisa, 21, ended her life by hanging herself from ceiling fan in her parents’ house in North Nazimabad.

Victim’s body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the post-mortem examination.

The police suspected that some domestic problem might be the cause of suicide.

Following the legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.

DIES: A young boy and a woman died of burns in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Thursday.

Police said that Sohail, 16, suffered severe burns while working in a bakery located in Kalri, Lyari. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment, the police said.

In another incident, a middle-aged housewife died of burns, suffered while working in the kitchen of her house in Korangi.

The woman was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment, the police said.
