Feel The Freedom has edge over close rivals
LAHORE, Oct 12: The Murree Cup featuring Monday’s Lahore Winter Meeting card of seven events is a battle between a trio English filly Laser Lass, bay filly Feel The Freedom and chestnut colt Royal Falcon.
Races scheduled for Sunday were postponed to Monday because of fifth One-day International between South Africa and Pakistan at Rawalpindi that day.
The Murree Cup is a class I, II and III combined handicap race to be run over the middle distance of 1400m at the Lahore Racecourse. It has ten acceptors barring last-minute withdrawals. Of them only above named three come into reckoning.
Laser Lass had registered five back-to-back victories in the last Lahore season and has now been assigned nine stones 13 pounds in weight. Royal Falcon and Feel The Freedom are carrying eight stones three pounds and eight stones weight, respectively.
Since the bay English filly Laser Lass is appearing after a four-month absence from the track. Feel The Freedom and Royal Falcon are fighting fit and been racing during the on-going meetings.
On her previous performance on Sept 28 Feel The Freedom, a progeny of King Of Saxony out of Young Madonna should have an edge over Royal Falcon (Officer-Venture Time).
This will be the sixth race of the day.
The supporting and seventh race, the Parachinar Plate, a class IV division I and II combined to be run over the sprinting distance of 1200 has 14 contestants, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them Tora Bora, with three fluent victories in-a- row looks an outstanding performer. He will be a hard nut to crack. Tora Bora should be followed by Moment To Moment, Storm Bird and Zargar.
The fifth race, the Chakwal Plate class V division I and II has 14 runners left in after the final scratchings. This seems to be an open affair. The chance contestants are: top-weight Amazing, Mahnoor, Flame, Minnie Me and Beena Roy Baby. On recent form Amazing , Mahnoor and Minnie Me should decide about the winner.
Speed Gun, Mohni Road and Hot Press are form animals in the fourth race.The should fight in the same order.
Blue-roan gelding, The Assassin, who was beaten by Lot Of Thanks due to in-efficient handling by riding boy M. Hussain should make amends this time in the third race. Lovely Diana and Madam Lorina may be his close challengers. The first race will be held at 1pm.
