ABBOTTABAD, Oct 12: The Galyat Development Authority has chalked out a comprehensive plan for the development of tourism in the region, especially in Thandiani and Ayubia.

Authority Director-General Ikramullah Khan told Dawn on Saturday that tenders had been floated for the development of a modern park at Ayubia, for which 300 kanal land has been allocated adjacent to the chair lift station.

According to the plan, besides entertainment and amusement facilities, footpaths and walking tracks, small huts for tourists would also be set up at the park.

About Thandiani, he said this area was given lessor importance in the past, but now the district government had planned to develop a Thandiani Resort Township. For this purpose, 128 acre area had been embarked where residential, commercial and all public entertainment facilities would be made available, he said.

The proposed township would be a unique type of resort centre for which road has already been renovated. Private sector has been asked to put forward proposals for the designing and development of the township, he said.

Mr Ikramullah said that to give further boost to the tourism in the Abbottabad district, tenders had been floated for the installation of chair lift from Abbottabad Township Scheme to the proposed Thandiani resort centre.
