KARACHI: Water crisis persists in city areas

KARACHI, Oct 7: Water shortage in various parts of the city is assuming an alarming proportions in this hot and sultry weather, forcing the residents of the affected localities to either buy private tankers or consume sub-soil unhygienic water.

The affected localities include Ramswami, Ranchore Lane, Bhimpura, Kharadar, Mithadar, Bath Island, parts of Gulshan-i- Iqbal’s blocks 2, 4-A, 13-D/1, PECHS block 6, Dhoraji, Adamjee Nagar, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Mehmoodabad, Federal B’ Area’s Block 8 (Mohammadi Colony) and different sectors of Orangi, Baldia, North Karachi and Shershah.

Besides, the other localities which were not supplied water on Tuesday included Clifton, Gizri, Dehli Colony, Punjab Colony, Shirin Jinnah Colony, JPMC, NICVD, Naval Officers Residents Estate-I, Bhutta Village and Navy Dockyard.

The localities where supply will remain suspended on Wednesday are: Old City Area, Garden East, Garden West, Soldier Bazaar, Saddar, Shikarpur Colony, Cosmopolitan Society and parts of Lyari.
