KARACHI: Pace of work on MPAs’ scheme slow

KARACHI, Oct 7: Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari chaired a meeting here on Tuesday to review the MPAs’ Priority Programme for which allocations had been made in the financial year 2002-03.

He observed that progress on the projects launched under the programme was slow and urged all the concerned officials to expedite the work.

He pointed out that due to the slow space of work in the implementation of first phase of the programme, it would be more difficult to launch the next phase for which funds had already been allocated.

Chief of the MPAs Priority Programme G. M. Abro informed the meeting that a total of 36 schemes had been forwarded to Finance Department for the release of funds amounting to Rs177.97 million. He said that out of this amount Rs164.693 had been released and the balance was in the process of release.

DCO Mir Hussain Ali assured the meeting that it would be ensured in future that no delay was made in implementing and executing the schemes.

He informed the chair there were 20 work orders to be issued today (Tuesday).

The minister stressed that MPAs should be provided necessary information about the progress on their schemes to enable them face people of their constituency. —PPI
