FAISALABAD, Oct 7: All Pakistan Cloth Exporters Association has demanded of the government to reintroduce SRO-410 so that exporters could import various accessories for BMR.

In a statement here on Monday, Chairman APCEA, Ahmad Kamal said that government had allowed exporters to import various raw material under temporary importation scheme. In this connection SRO-410 was issued which was extended from time to time to achieve the ultimate objective of increasing national exports.

But, He said, the government had withdrawn this facility from September 30, which would have a direct effect on textile industry in addition to having negative repercussions on leather, engineering, electrical, electronic equipments, sports, furniture instruments and footwear industries.

He pointed out that the government wanted that exports should use Duty and Tax Remission for Export (DTRE) whereas the majority of exporters still prefer Temporary Importation Scheme.

APCEA Chief said the withdrawal of this facility had created an uncertain situation at the ports where a large number of consignments were being imported just before the expiry of SRO-410.

Manufacturers-cum-exporters are perturbed over this situation as the CBR has not yet issued any clarification that how these consignments would be cleared, he added.

Demanding immediate intervention of the EPB, he said that government should reintroduce SRO-410 to clear the situation, as any ambiguity in this connection would be detrimental to the exports.
