KARACHI, Oct 5: Three persons died and two injured in road accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday.
Police said that Mohammad Hussain, 35, was on his motorcycle when he was hit by a speeding car at Sohrab goth traffic section.
Police said that the victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police arrested the driver and impounded the private car.
A passenger died when a speeding minibus of route (W-11) overturned at Numaish traffic section early Sunday morning.
Police said that Abdul Hameed, 30, died on the spot while other passengers Abdul Waheed and Saifullah were injured in the accident. People apprehended driver Tariq and gave him a thorough beating, police added.
In Surjani town, the conductor of a passenger coach died when the vehicle over turned on Sunday.
Police said that Nadeemul Hasan died when a speeding coach while negotiating a sharp turn overturned, police said that the conductor was hanging out of the vehicle at the time of the accident.
KILLED: A cattle pen owner was stabbed to death by another cattle pen owner in the limits of Sukkah police limits early Sunday morning.
Police said that Manzoor Ahmed, 23, was stabbed to death allegedly by another cattle pen owner Jameel in Millat town. Both had developed difference over hiring of a worker.
FIRE: As many as 29 incidents of fire have been reported during the last 24 hours in different parts of the city.
Talking to the Dawn city government’s Chief Fire Officer, Kazim Ali, attributed the sudden surge in the fire incidents mainly to the prevalent dry season.
During the last twenty-four hours fire had been reported in industrial units, godowns and some apartments and houses, the officer said.
Terming the phenomena “seasonal fire trap”, the CFO advised the public to observe caution while operating electric house hold items and lighting fire in open spaces.
He said so far no big fire had been reported during this season however, he recalled that almost all the major incidents of fire had occurred during the dry season.
The Karim Centre, Saddar and Lakshmi building, MA Jinnah road fire incidents were examples of dry season fire, the CFO added.
