KARACHI: Shujaat rules out dissolution of assemblies

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 2: Pakistan Muslim League president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the assemblies will not be dissolved but the PML-N will disintegrate. In the next elections, the Pakistan People’s Party will also be wiped out from the political scene.

He expressed these views on Thursday while talking to a group of journalists first at the Chief Minister House and then at the residence of PML leader Maqbool Ahmad Shaikh.

Answering a question, he said President Pervez Musharraf was from Sindh and he was determined to solve the contentious water issue to the satisfaction of the people.

He said that those who were talking about the dissolution of the assemblies and of the local bodies system were in fact daydreaming.

Chaudhry Shujaat said the NWFP and Balochistan had already given consent to the solution of the water issue and the people of Sindh would also be taken into confidence.

Speaking about Asif Zardari’s claim that in the next elections his party would emerge with a heavy mandate, Chaudhry Shujaat said the PPP would be wiped out even from Sindh.

Speaking about his talks with Pir Pagara on the leadership of the party, the PML chief said that after the return of Prime Minister Mir Jamali from abroad, this proposal would be taken into consideration and put to the relevant quarters.

Later, Chaudhry Shujaat had a meeting with Imtiaz Shaikh.
