KARACHI: Ban on hydrant

KARACHI, Oct 1: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Wednesday imposed ban with immediate effect on the supply of water from an illegal hydrant, located in the jurisdiction of Jamshed town.

The move is aimed against the threat to public health from sub-soil and against the damage being caused to roads.

The city government has also cautioned people against going for the unhygienic water.

It also announced a ban, under section 144, on the manufacturing, sale and storage of fireworks as well as aerial firing in weddings and other occasions.

According to city government sources, the Nazim ordered imposition of the ban following information that certain traders were indulged in the manufacturing, storage and sale of fireworks and doing their business in densely populated areas and the localities housing highrise buildings.

The traders have been warned that their activities posed a serious threat to life and property of citizens.—APP
