Theory of best practices

KARACHI, Sept 30: Second annual Best Practices Day (BPD) was organized on Tuesday at which papers were read out by business leaders to share with the participants their respective best practices in several areas. These included financial management, corporate governance, innovative product development, etc. Speakers from leading corporate enterprises presented papers.

The conference also brought to light alternate, management theories and practices to the audience’s attention and demonstrated how those management practices could be used to create a successful organization. Tariq A. Khan of Indus Motors highlighted the Japanese management theory of Kaizen and its implementation at his company.

Iain Williams of Instaphone described customer segmentation as it was carried out in his company and why it was critical for the company to retain its market leadership.

Naseem Beg, CEO Arif Habib Investment Management; Leon Menezes, GM HR at Shell Pakistan; Jalees A. Siddiqui, Executive Director HR & Services at PSO; Pervaiz Ghias, vice-president, Engro Chemicals; and Imran Husain, treasurer at Unilever, shared their respective experiences in this regard. From the services industry, Trakker Pvt Ltd, AKD Securities, 2 B Technologies and the Aga Khan University Hospital were represented.
