KARACHI, Sept 29: Five ships carrying edible oil, high speed diesel and coal were allotted berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Monday.

Berth occupancy remained on the higher side as six ships, Armour-I, Bum Ju, Al Maqwa, Northern Snow, Sea Dream and Ermis were busy in discharging edible oil, chemicals and coal.

A cargo volume of 36,878 tons consisted of imported commodities including 5,996 tons of edible oil, 11,560 tons of high speed diesel, 14,750 tons of coal and 998 tons of chemicals was handled.

Sailing activity was slow as only one ship, Northern Snow, departed.

Three ships, Fu-Le, Tzini and Suzanne, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage, while Kaedi and Iran Eshraghi with chemicals and iron ore were due to arrive.
