Nasrullah’s death termed loss to democratic forces

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: A large number of politicians from across the country paid glowing tributes on Saturday to the services of the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan for the cause of democracy in the country, and termed his death a great loss to the democratic forces.

Former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, in their separate condolence messages, termed the death of the ARD chief a “national tragedy” and vowed to continue the mission of the departed soul.

In her message, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Benazir Bhutto said the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan had devoted his entire life to the cause of democracy, supremacy of parliament and the Constitution and rule of law in the country.

“The sincerity of purpose, conviction in his cause and the tenacity with which he fought for it through several decades right until he breathed his last has inspired many and earned him the gratitude of the nation.”

Ms Bhutto further said neither old age nor ill health nor the threats and intimidation of dictators deterred him from pursuing his mission. The example of the Nawabzada would serve as a beacon light for the democratic struggle in future, she observed.

Ms Bhutto said it would not be easy to fill the void created by the death of the Nawabzada. “Few, if any, have the natural gift of the ARD chief to forge political alliances and bring together divergent political parties on the same platform for a common democratic cause,” she went on to say.

Vowing to continue the mission of Nawabzada Nasrullah, she said: “The best tribute we can pay to the memory of the late Nawab Sahib is to pursue his mission of democracy to which he had dedicated his life.”

NAWAZ: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, in his message sent from Jeddah to Mansoor Ali Khan, son of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, said entire family should be proud of having produced a stalwart like the late Nawabzada, “who was a man of principles and a paragon of civility and selflessness.”

The PML-N leader said even the opponents of the Nawabzada respected him for his adherence to principles. The late Nawabzada was always in the forefront of every national movement, he pointed out.

He hoped that the mission launched by the departed soul despite his declining health would be completed.

FAHIM: PPP President Makhdoom Amin Fahim also paid glowing tributes to the late Nawabzada, and termed his death a loss to the democratic forces.

HASHMI: PML-N Acting President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi eulogized the services rendered by the late ARD chief in the politics of Pakistan.

NOORANI: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) President Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani has expressed his heartfelt condolences and grief over the sad demise of veteran politician Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, adds PPI.

In a message of condolence to the family of the late Nawabzada, the Maulana eulogized the services rendered by “the great champion of democracy in the politics of Pakistan”.

He prayed to the Almighty Allah “to shower His eternal blessings on the departed soul and grant courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss.”

QAZI: MMA Vice President and Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed has expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the elderly politician.

In a condolence message from Lahore, he termed the Nawabzada’s death as a big national loss.

He praised the services the Nawabzada rendered for the revival of democracy in the country.
