Eyewitnesses said that an unidentified man flagged down a Peshawar-bound coach (ADB-417), coming from Naryab, northwest of Hangu near Kotgai village on Friday morning.

As the driver stopped the bus, a group of armed men, who were hiding behind the bushes, came out and rushed towards the coach. They tried to pull the driver out of the bus. This resulted in a scuffle between the highwaymen and passengers after which the former began firing at the latter.
