NHA asked to expedite work on projects

QUETTA, Sept 26: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani on Friday directed the National Highway Authority’s officials to accelerate the pace of repairs on roads damaged by rains in the province.

He issued orders in this regard during a briefing given by the General Manager NHA Saeed Ahmed here.

The governor was informed about the progress on various projects and road repairs.

Stressing the need for expediting work on NHA projects, the governor said that the work on bridges on the Zhob-Danasar- Mughalkot section of the highway should be given a high priority, adding that he would take up the matter of the release of funds for the project with the federal government.

NHA’s general manager informed the governor that the government had allocated Rs567 for current financial year while during the previous year, Rs326 million had been spent on similar projects, adding that the length of the national highways in Balochistan was now 2,348 kilometres.

RESIGNATION: The Jamhoori Watan Party’s secretary-general Khuda-i-Noor has resigned from the post, confirms JWP’s secretary information Amanullah Kanrani. He said that the resignation had been accepted by JWP chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.

Khuda-i-Noor cited differences with the party leadership, adding that he had sent in his resignation on Sept 23.
