KARACHI, Sept 26: Sindh minister for population welfare Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, declaring the rapidly increasing population of the country as a root-cause of other problems, has appealed people and NGOs to join hands with government to control its growth.

Talking at the launch of a product by the Contraceptive Social Marketing, held at a local hotel on Friday, the minister said Pakistan was sixth among the countries with high population growth, which was alarming.

Emphasising the need of joint efforts by people, non-governmental and community based organization to control the population growth in the country, he invited social welfare organizations to create awareness regarding the issue among the people.

On the occasion, Secretary Population Welfare Mushtaq Ali Memon, Managing Director Marie Stoves and others also spoke.—PPI
