HYDERABAD: STPP chief, others issued notices

HYDERABAD, Sept 25: Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi and his party leaders appeared at the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, in response to pre-admission notices issued on criminal acquittal appeals.

Through the appeals, filed by additional advocate-general Masood A. Noorani on behalf of the Sindh government, judgment of the sixth additional district judge, acquitting the 33 accused in Hyderabad carnage case (Sept 30, 1988) has been challenged.

A division bench of the court had issued notices to 33 respondents on Sept 4. Around 10 respondents attended the court through their advocate, Yousuf Leghari, who filed power of attorney on behalf of Dr Qadir Magsi and his party leaders.

The AAG described the judgment as totally based on presumptions.—Correspondent
