BD trade team to visit Pakistan

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 24: A high-level Bangladesh trade delegation will visit Pakistan from October 18-25 to promote and increase joint collaboration between the two countries. The delegation will also meet local business community in Karachi to explore new avenues of trade.

This was stated by Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Mohammad Enamul Kabir in a meeting with members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday.

He also informed the KCCI members that a single-country exhibition of Bangladesh had been planned from October 21-25 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

However, Mr Kabir stressed the need for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh and exploring new avenues of mutual cooperation, especially in trade and commerce, says a press release of the KCCI.

He pointed out that Pakistani business community should share its expertise through joint ventures in the fields of textile, food processing, small engineering and construction industry. Health care services sector is also growing in Bangladesh and Pakistan can participate in its further growth, he explained.

The deputy high commissioner said Pakistan and Bangladesh are two brotherly countries and had a common history before the independence of Bangladesh. “We should now move on to a better future path that must be mutually beneficial,” he added.

It was mutually agreed that the forthcoming occasion of the visit of Bangladesh trade delegation to Pakistan should be fully exploited for mutual benefits and fruitful interactions.

KCCI president Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo offered all possible cooperation for the upcoming visit of the delegation. He suggested to hold a meeting at the Chamber between the Bangladesh trade delegation and the local business community to provide a comprehensive interactive forum for all during the proposed visit.
