BEIJING, Sept 23: Pakistan will hold a first-ever seminar in Shanghai on October 16 to attract foreign investment in the country.
The seminar is being organized by the Board of Investment (BoI) and the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing in collaboration with the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board and some other Chinese business organizations.
BoI chairman Wasim Haqqie will preside over the seminar, which is likely to be attended by a large number of Chinese and Pakistani businessmen.
“It (seminar) will help highlight the various policies and incentives for foreign investment in the country through foreign owned or joint ventures,” said Shahid Mahmood, commercial counsellor in the embassy.
He expressed the hope that Pakistani businessmen would also attend the seminar to enhance interaction with their Chinese counterparts developing economic cooperation. The seminar coincides with the international Textile Shanghai Exhibition, which is being held from October 14 to 16.
Shahid Mahmood expects that the representatives of about 15 companies will attend the exhibition. It will also be a good opportunity for increasing the country’s export to China in the textile sector.—APP
