SIALKOT, Sept 20: A villager was grievously injured in a heavy landmine blast at the Sialkot working boundary’s Bajwat sector on Saturday.
According to sources, Manzoor Husain, 38, was passing through the fields when he stepped a landmine planted there. His left leg was chopped off in the blast after which he was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital.
PEACE DAY: A large number of teachers and students observed “Peace Day” on Saturday with enthusiasm and pledge to fight terrorism.
Assembled under the auspices of the district education department, the teachers and the taught prayed for peace in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kashmir. They also lit peace candles.
CAR RECOVERED: Daska police claimed on Saturday to have recovered the car of Shia leader Zakir Husain.
Led by SHO Zahid Husain, a team raided a rice mills near Mundeyki Goraya village on the Daska-Pasrur Road from where it recovered the car.
GRANT: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has granted Rs13.3 million to the district government for the construction of a road, said a press release.
