ISLAMABAD: Peace Day today

ISLAMABAD, Sept 20: The International Peace Day will be observed throughout the country on Sunday.

According to a press release, various government departments and non-governmental organizations have arranged special programmes to observe the event in a befitting manner.

In this regard, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and the Peace Council of Pakistan will hold a ceremony and a walk on Sunday to mark the event.

The ceremony will include the UN secretary-general’s message, performances of songs and sketches by schoolchildren, lighting of candles by the participants and tolling of the peace bell.

After the ceremony, the participants will proceed to a walk carrying messages of peace and giant peace doves created by the schoolchildren.—Our Reporter
