KARACHI, Sept 20: The provincial minister for education, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, has lifted ban on transfer of students from one college to another on hardship ground.
Sources in the education department said that irrespective of the city government’s decision to continue ban on transfer of students from one college to other, the provincial minister had asked the Education secretary to move for accommodation of hardship cases of students.
The minister had desired that principals of colleges and officers concerned should implement his latest decision and take care of students applying for their transfer from one college to other on hardship ground. “Ban on transfer of students from one college to another may be relaxed on medical grounds as well as distance from the residences etc, being the hardship cases,” minister said in a signed letter of Sept 19.
City governments Centralized Admission policy based on merit, however, calls for an absolute ban on transfer of students from one college to other, either in the first year or second year of studies.
Those involved in admission works under the admission policy, are of the view that the city government’s policy had been proving helpful in smooth and flawless admissions exercise at colleges, without succumbing to any pressure or partiality, but after the latest order from the minister, the whole discipline was likely to be shattered once again, said a source in the admission committee.
The minister, in his letter had further desired that the principals be directed to implement his directive so that the hardship cases of the students were taken care of in order to facilitate the students.
