Karachi Port operations

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 17: Berthing activity at the Karachi port on Wednesday was maintained on the higher side as agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels, according to KPT sources.

As a result, all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berth off-port including Tai He, Oriental Bright, Manhattan Bridge and Flame to unload and load containers were berthed.

Others, which got berths were: Panta Nassa, to offload and load general cargo, Claudius and Tiha Matina to offload coal and White Dolphin to unload high speed diesel.

Three ships, Kota Teguh, Sun Ann and Albatros, departed on Wednesday, while Corinthia Kos, Cape Henry, Manhattan Bridge, White Dolphin, Tai He and Morning Power are due to sail out on Thursday.

Cargo handling activity remained modest at 53,620 tons comprising 7,913 tons of export cargo including 650 tons of rice and 45,716 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Al-Barakah, with 9,350 tons of steel coils, Nur al-Jubail, with 6,500 tons of chemicals, Hyundai Highway, with containers and Annemeke, with general cargo.
