Unification of PML factions discussed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 15: Pakistan Muslim League (Junejo) chief Hamid Nasir Chattha and PML (Zia) president Ijazul Haq called on Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Monday and discussed reunification of the party’s different factions.

PML (Quaid-i-Azam) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain later joined the meeting at prime minister’s chamber at Parliament House.

The leaders agreed to the proposal of early reunification of various PML factions in the interest of democracy.

Mr Chattha and Mr Haq exchanged views with the PML-Q leaders on the political situation, including negotiations with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on the Legal Framework Order.

They stressed the need for making efforts to ensure stability of the democratic system.

The prime minister said the dialogue with the opposition on the LFO had been initiated by the government to resolve all outstanding issues with a democratic spirit.

Mr Jamali expressed the hope that the opposition would realize its responsibilities and respond positively to the government’s overtures to sort out the differences.
