KARACHI, Sept 15: An Anti-Terrorism Appellate bench of the High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Ghulam Nabi Soomro and Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmay, on Monday set aside death sentence awarded to two appellants.
Rehan and Amjad Lodhi, accused in the murder case of five women and a young boy in the jurisdiction of the Surjani Town police, preferred appeals against their conviction and sentence by the ATC-V.
The bench hearing the appeals, for reasons to be recorded later, allowed the appeals, set aside the death sentence and ordered their release if not required in any other case.
According to the prosecution the accused entered the house of Ms Shamim to commit dacoity.
They later killed Shamim, her two daughters Asima and Shehnaz, her tenant and the tenant’s daughter. They allegedly also sexually assaulted the women. — APP
