Jamali invites MMA for talks

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali on Friday invited the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leadership to talks on the Legal Framework Order on Sept 16.

Talking to newsmen outside his chambers in the National Assembly, the prime minister said the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy, which comprises People’s Party Parliamentarians and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, would not be invited to the meeting.

Mr Jamali said since the government had been holding negotiations with the MMA, no opposition party had, therefore, been invited to talks on the LFO.

In reply to a question, Mr Jamali said the date for the meeting was decided in his meeting with President Pervez Musharraf on Thursday.

Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain held a lengthy meeting with President Pervez Musharraf on Thursday to evolve a strategy for further dialogue with the MMA on the LFO.

The prime minister refused to take more questions from newsmen, saying it was time for Juma prayers.
