Dr Aimal leads by 3-strokes

PESHAWAR, Sept 12: Pakistan’s top amateur Dr Aimal Zaman emerged as clear leader on the opening with his gross score 70 in the 39th Frontier Golf Championship 2003 which teed off at PAF Golf Course on Friday.

In the (HCP 0-12) gross categories, Aimal showed tremendous class having four birdies.

Aimal just missed two putts on hole number two and 18 where he missed a four-foot and 7-footer birdies.

Aimal Zaman carded 35, one under at front and 35, one under at back for his 70, two par over 18 holes.

He was followed by Inayatullah Yousafzai with a score of 73, one under par, 38, two over par at front nine and 35, one under at back nine.

Inayat made three birdies at holes number 6, 9 and 18 while made a double boggy at hole number two and missed a strokes at 3 and 8.

Ali Haider, trailing at third with his score 76, four over par, 40, four over par at front and 36, par, at back nine.

He scored one birdie at 6th. He also made double boggy at hole number 4 and missed a stroke at 5, 8 and 9.

Mehmood Aziz carded 78, 39 at front nine and 39 at back nine. He scored two birdies and tripple boggy at hole number 4, a par-4, while missed a stroke at 9, 10, 15 and 18.

Muhammad Saud Khan 78, Ibrahim 79, Idrees Khalid 80, Ahmed Jamshed 83, while Fawad Khan, Zia-ul-Islam and Asif Khan sharing 85 each at gross.

In the net category Inayatullah is ahead with a score of 64. He was followed by Zia Afridi with a score of 68, while Dr. Aimal Zaman on third position with a score of 69.

In the subsidiary match for amateur (HCP 13-18) Khizar Azam was leading in both gross and net categories with score of 80 and 65.

He was followed by Atif H. Khan with score of 80 gross and 67 net, while the on third position Fazalur Rahman with score of 84 gross and 70 net.

Top amateurs golfers of the country participating in the country’s oldest golf championship, playing on 54 holes; 18 holes each day.
