Petitions dismissed

QUETTA, Sept 12: An Election Tribunal here headed by Mr Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani of the Balochistan High Court has dismissed election petitions filed against Mir Tariq Magsi, brother of ex-chief minister Nawab Magsi, and wife Shama Perveen Magsi, MPA, here on Friday as the petitioner did not deposit the diet money amounting to Rs14,555.

The petition was filed by one Mohammad Ramzan against election of Nawabzada Tarqi Magsi from PB-32 Kachhi-III and Shama Perveen Magsi on women’s reserved seats in which the graduation degrees of both had been challenged.

The tribunal repeatedly directed the petitioner to deposit the diet money with the registrar of the court to be paid to the witness, Dost Mohammad, who is Assistant Controller of Examination, Jamshoro University Sindh, but he did not comply with the order.

As a result, the tribunal dismissed the petition under section 63 (b) of the Representation of People Act, 1976.—Staff Correspondent
