GUJRANWALA, Sept 12: The Kasur district police officer, Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar, who has been tracing the causes of the Sialkot jail incident, on Friday produced the findings of an investigation report in an anti-terrorism court.

The report carried statements of the jail superintendent and other officials. However, the court did not disclose the findings.

Sialkot jail’s former superintendent Sikandar Hayat, and assistant superintendents Raja Mushtaq, Akhtar Iqbal and Ghulam Sarwar were present in court.

The judge, Syed Iftikhar Husain Shah, returned incomplete challan of the case, and directed the Civil Lines police SHO to interrogate all the senior officers and doctors found negligent during an operation and treatment of the injured judges. He directed that the challan should be produced in court on Sept 20.

The court also directed the police to arrest fugitive Malik Iftikhar, the former deputy superintendent of the jail.

WARNING: The district development committee has expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of construction works, and warned the contractors against the use of sub-standard material.

At a meeting held here on Friday, presided over by District Coordination Officer Fazeel Asghar, the officials directed the relevant authorities to monitor the development process and ensure quality construction.

The DCO directed the EDOs to submit reports on the development of the works regularly.

The participants were informed that Rs590 million had been allocated for education, health, water supply and roads’ construction.
