Karachi Port operations
KARACHI, Sept 12: Five ships carrying containers, coal and to load rice are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
While Leader-2 is due on Saturday to load 6,000 tons of rice, another ship, Sun Ann to load 4,500 tons of the commodity is awaiting berth off-port.
Berthing activity at the wharves was light owing to slow arrivals and as a result only two ships, Hyundai Sprinter to unload and load containers and Stolt Orchid to load naphtha were berthed after the departure of five.
The ships, which departed included Al-Mirqab, Global Progress, Sima Kija, Alaska Carrier and Joyce, while Hyundai Sprinter, Le He, Stolt Orchid, Bunga Masdua, Sinar Bangka and Wehr Havel are due to sail out on Saturday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 44,031 tons comprising 14,307 tons of export cargo and 29,724 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Ocean Starlight, PONL Malindi, and City of London, with containers, Leader-2 to load rice and Claudius, with 28,003 tons of coal.
KARACHI, Sept 12: Four ships scheduled to load and offload containers, chemicals and edible oil were allotted berths at during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday.
Meanwhile, four more ships carrying containers, coal and chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage.
Berth occupancy remained on the higher side as seven ships, Serdinia, E.R. Albany, Ince Marmara, Igloo Star, Sapphire, Vernal Grace and Georga-T were busy in loading/offloading containers, general cargo, chemicals, edible oil and iron ore.
Cargo handling activity remained brisk as the total tonnage rose to 53,363 tons comprising 43,045 tons of import cargo and 14,314 tons of export tonnage was handled.
Sailing was also active as four ships, Maersk Avon, E.R. Albany, Ince Marmara and Serdinia sailed out, while Sapphire was due to leave the port.
Four ships, Little Annoue, Budulu Valley, Carmen and Safmarine Pakistan were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage, while Southern Unicornand and Norgas Traveller were due to arrive.
