KCCI polls on 27th

KARACHI, Sept 11: The election of the managing committee members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will be held on September 27 for 15 seats (14 for member class and one for town association).

An official in the KCCI said that the last date of filing nomination papers is Sept 13, while Sept 16 has been fixed for the announcement of valid nominations.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is Sept 23, while the list of final candidates will be circulated on Sept 24. Polling will be held from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm at the chamber’s premises.

The election of office-bearers will be held on Sept 29 followed by annual general meeting on Sept 30 to approve the audit statement of the year 2002-2003.

The official said that around 150 nomination papers have been issued by the returning officer to the KCCI members while no nomination has been filed so far due to security deposit fees of Rs10,000 which was introduced from the last year.

It is expected that serious candidates will file their nominations on the last date of filing the papers.
