QUETTA, Sept 9: Awami National Party and Pakhtun Students Federation leaders have said that resolution of issues, especially the grant of autonomy to provinces and strengthening of federal parliamentary system would steer the country out of the present crisis.
Speaking at a rally in front of the Quetta Press Club here on Tuesday, the speakers claimed that past experience proved that the military rulers had failed to resolve constitutional, political and democratic problems, and urged President Pervez Musharraf to accept the supremacy of parliament.
ANP Balochistan President Malik Ghulam Sarwar Piralizai, Awami National Party General Secretary Shakoor Kakar and Pakhtun Student Federation President Asghar Achakzai addressed the demonstrators.
They claimed that President General Pervez Musharraf had announced a seven-point agenda that had similarity with the Awami National Party programme so the party leadership backed it.
They expressed the hope that the implementation of the agenda would help resolve contentious issues but the military ruler, after the passage of time, abandoned the agenda.
