Riyadh wants Tehran to hand over Osama’s son

By Our Correspondent

RIYADH, Sept 8: Saudi Arabia has asked Iran to extradite Osama bin Laden’s eldest son Saad bin Laden for plotting to assassinate members of the Saudi royal family and overthrow the government, Saudi ambassador in the US Prince Bandar is quoted as saying.

Iran has not acted on Saudi Arabia’s request for extraditing Saad bin Laden and several other suspected terrorists, the envoy said on Monday.

“My government has been requesting that they hand over any members of Al Qaeda that we have information are terrorists or Saudi citizens,” Prince Bandar emphasized.

Tehran has not rejected the Saudi request, Prince Bandar added. “They’ve said they want to finish their investigations first and then we will share and we talk about it,” he said.

Last month, Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ali Asghar Khaji said a number of Saudis arrested in Iran for their alleged links to the Al Qaeda network were extradited to Saudi Arabia.
