KARACHI: Ban on hydrant water

KARACHI, Sept 8: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has imposed a seven-day ban, under section 144 CrPC, on supply and trade of water through the hydrant situated at Nishtar Road in Jamshed Town.

The ban has been imposed following reports that illegal water hydrants were being operated on Nishtar Road, within jurisdiction of Jamshed Town, in violation of instructions issued in this regard by the city government.

A CDGK press release on Monday said that water supply from illegal hydrants of sub-soil water not only caused water shortage but was also injurious to public health because of germ and bacteria contamination in the water.

Moreover, the leakage of water from hydrants and tankers was also damaging roads in the area, it added. — PPI
