PTA to hold investors’ moot

ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is holding Investors’ Conference here on Wednesday as part of its awareness campaign to introduce the Telecom Deregulation Policy and motivate intending telecom investors to enter this lucrative market.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari will be the chief guest while Federal Minister for Privatization, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will be the guest of honour.

The conference, second of the series of Investors’ Conferences by PTA, will focus on unveiling salient features of the policy and the vast opportunities opened up to the new market players. The first conference was held in Karachi on August 18.

Matters relating to the procedures drafted by the Authority for the grant of licenses for Local Loop (LL) and Long Distance International (LDI) will be discussed threadbare in the conference.

The conference being attended by potential investors, telecom professionals and experts and other stakeholders will provide a useful forum to PTA in formulating its strategy for issuing licences to the intending parties.—APP
