ST exemption

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Justice (Retd) Saleem Akhtar has asked the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to exempt sales tax on supply of goods of a complainant between June 1995 to 1996.

The ombudsman recommended to the CBR to issue notification under section 65 of the sales tax act exempting the complainant from sales tax for the period from June 1995 to June 1996.

The compliance to this office should be reported within 30 days of this order, said FTO.

The decision was taken on the complaint of General Lockers (Pvt) Ltd, Karachi, who complained against member sales tax, CBR for keeping the complainant’s application under section 65 un-attended for over a period of three years and thereafter rejected it.

The complainant was manufacturing ignition switches

and locks of motorcycles since 1995.
