No-trust move tabled against APHC chief

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: A no-confidence motion was adopted on Sunday against the All-Parties Hurriyet Conference chairman Maulvi Abbasa Ansari.

The motion was adopted at the joint meeting of the executive and general councils of the alliance that was held in Srinagar besides being attended by an overwhelming majority of leaders of organizations constituting the APHC.

Kashmir Media Service quoted a communique issued at the end of the meeting as saying that the present APHC “leadership has lost the confidence of Kashmiris because of its duplicity and inaction.”

It accused the leadership of having “failed to steer out the people of Kashmir from the difficulties they are facing.”

The communique stated that a transitional committee was constituted to carry on the day-to-day work of the APHC.

Participants, the communique stated, expressed “full confidence in the leadership of Syed Ali Gilani” and directed the committee to immediately contact and persuade him to lead the movement.—APP
