KARACHI: Naimat to take up transfer of scheme 33 with governor

KARACHI, Sept 7: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has assured that he will take the matter of Gulzar-e-Hijri cooperative housing societies with Sindh governor for transfer of Scheme 33 to the city government.

This was stated by the honorary secretary of the federation of the Society, S Mazhar Jaleel, while speaking at the annual general meeting of the Federation on Sunday.

Federation president Ashraf Tarmohammad, office-bearers and a large number of members were also present on the occasion.

Mr Jaleel said that the governor’s approval was necessary for the transfer of 27-year old housing project, Scheme-33 in Gulzar-e- Hijri, which was still waiting development work as no agency was taking responsibility for this job.

He said that when all the housing and town planning related departments, such as KMC, KDA and Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) had been devolved to the district government, the ownership of Scheme-33 should also be handed over to the city government.

He told the meeting that a delegation of the Federation held a meeting with the City Nazim to discuss the transfer of the Scheme to the city government. The Nazim assured the delegation that he would take the matter with Sindh Governor, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Federation’s president demanded that the scheme be included in Rs29 million Karachi development package announced by President Musharraf.—APP
