KARACHI: 65pc women councillors complete training


KARACHI, Sept 7: The third phase of the ‘W3P’, a project of women participation in the country’s politics, is over with which training of 65 per cent of women councillors in the province has been completed.

This was stated by the provincial coordinator of the project, Ashfaq Qadri, in a briefing to the provincial Minister for Women Development Dr Saeeda Malik at her office Saturday evening. Secretary Women Development Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui was also present on the occasion.

The minister directed the coordinator to gear up the process and ensure completion of the training of remaining women councillors by Oct 15, 2003.

She said the government had initiated this project to impart the training to the councillors with an aim of enabling them run their day-to-day affairs relating to problems faced by the people of their constituencies.

The coordinator told her that 1,700 women councillors had received training under the project. He said the councillors of Sanghar and Dadu districts had received training in the first week of this month under third phase.—APP
