KARACHI: Five acquitted of kidnapping and killing

KARACHI, Sept 6: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, who is also administrative judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) for Karachi, on Saturday acquitted five persons arrested in the kidnapping and killing case of three Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) activists on June 23 owing to lack of evidence against them.

Shahadat Hussain, Banny Khan, Danish, Imran and Shafat Ali were arrested by the police on a charge of killing three MQM-H activists — Arsalan, Mohammad Azeem and Imran Ali alias Nomi — after kidnapping them in the Jacob Line area.

The judge observed that no evidence against the accused was found and ordered their release if not involved in any other case.

According to the FIR, lodged by complainant Mohammad Baber in the Brigade police station on June 23, his brother Arsalan and friends were kidnapped outside his house on June 21.

Later the bodies of the three were found in the Government Boys School in Jutland Line. — PPI
