KARACHI, Sept 5: The problems being faced by the people of the province will be solved with mutual cooperation, besides early completion of ongoing development projects. The federal government has already released Rs846 million to the Sindh government for implementation of uplift schemes.

These views were expressed by Waseem Akhtar, advisor to the chief minister on local government. Mr Akhtar, who was recently briefed by the chief of provincial transition wing, Mohammad Mian, and director general of the Sindh Local Government Commission, Mir Nasir Abbas, said the new local government system aimed at solving problems of people at their doorstep, particularly those pertaining to basic amenities.

He opined that most of the problems could be solved, if officials do not indulge in misuse of their powers and discharge their duties with honesty and dedication, and added that there was also need to improve working of the local institutions.
